![]() ![]() I was wondering if anyone was preparing a mod in which the player race is alone. Historical simulation can't really convey the same sense of peril or intensity. It could be the kind of concept that presents the game more as an artistic narrative, rather than a space empire simulator. It would be an exercise in losing control, and one where the player is not able to make any rational decision within their existing moral framework. It would be a game with no happy ending, a scenario that expresses a variety of different ways in which people deal with death and loss. It would be an opportunity to make a grand strategy game that is extremely gripping and emotionally challenging for the player. What about the far future? The projected models for the Universe's death leave the possibility that one race or civilisation could outlive all others using preparation and advanced technology, eventually watching helplessly as physics overcomes them and the stars go out one by one. Stellaris comes across as a fairly optimistic assessment of the future, overall. It also has the potential to be extremely bleak. Stellaris and scifi in general is a very good way to explore philosophical problems and questions of morality. ![]()
